  • An ending, for now
Dear customers and friends of Dandelion Guild,
I have some sad news for you. The Dandelion Guild storefront at 1925 Rosina Street will be closing, effective September 15 2019.

Usually I use the pronoun “we” when referring to the shop, because it truly feels like a shared experience amongst an incredible group of local creatives…. but this time I have to differentiate so as to explain that this is a decision that I (Calixte) am making, as the founder/organizer behind the Guild. I love holding space for makers and community. There have been so many wonderful connections and collaborations that have resulted from having a physical location. But ultimately, the structure of a traditional retail space, with its high demands on time, emotional/physical energy and financial resources is not something I can personally sustain any longer.

It’s been a difficult decision, especially since so much good has come from this past year’s adventures. The shop has been (and will be for the remaining couple months) both a physical space, but also a magical moment in time. I’ve been so happy to be able to champion local artisans, organize and host events that bring community together and share my love of vintage clothing with Santa Fe and beyond.
The store couldn’t have made it to the year mark without all of you. Dandelion Guild broke even this last year, which is incredible, for a little niche storefront in a hard to find location! And that is, in large part, thanks to you. If you are an artisan, musician, small business person or organizer that I have had the privilege to work with, I say thank you to YOU, with added emphasis!

I’d like you to know that it is my hope that Dandelion Guild will still continue on, although the shape is yet to be determined. I love organizing events and working with and promoting local artists. I love selling vintage. There is space for the Guild, although it might not be a fixed physical space right now. While it may be a little while, this isn’t the last word. Let’s keep in touch.* I see good things in our future together…things that are even more collaborative, more brilliant and full of wonder.

In the meantime, I do hope you can drop by the storefront while it is still up and running (until September 15). If you haven’t had a chance to check the shop out yet, there is still time. We’ll keep stocking new vintage and all the wonderful local makers. Our next (and last) opening, We Are Vessels will be happening this Friday and it’s going to be a really special one. With its acknowledgement of ancestry in relation to craft, this particular installation feels like a nice place to leave things for now. There will be music, food and good people. One way or another, I would love to see you soon.

With heartfelt thanks,
Calixte
