Dandelion Guild Presents:
We Are Vessels
July 17-September 15
Opening Party July 19, 6-9pm

Picture
We Are Vessels
Opening Party Friday July 19, 6-9pm

All craft is - to some extent - informed by history and tradition. That being said, every now and then we meet an artisan whose work is actively engaged in conversation with ancestry.

This upcoming show, we chose three makers that deeply embody a sense of lineage. Arianna Johnny Wadsworth of Quw'ustsun'Made, Christine Hernandez of Lil Weavy Handwoven and Sophia Kissin of Sophie Kissin Jewelry.

Each hold awareness of themselves as vessels of information, carrying a sense of the past with reverence and honor while moving forward into the new. Whether it may be a healing salve, a beautifully woven tapestry or a thoughtfully made pair of earrings, each item can be seen as more than just a thing, more than a consumable object but a living, breathing relationship.

We hope you'll join us for the opening party of this new show at the shop. We'll be joined by our current favorite musical duo, Laughing Branches, who write songs about cycles of life and death, animism and ancestry. With a pop up by Helen Tindel of Pueblo Beach, whose microfiber beach towel line is a tribute to the work of her great grandmother, the renowned Pueblo artist Pablita Velarde.

Featuring work by
Quw'utsun' Made
Arianna Johnny-Wadsworth is a Proud Daughter of the Quw'utsun'/Cowichan Peoples. She was born in Duncan, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Unceded Coast Salish Territory
Quw'utsun'Made is a project to preserve the traditional knowledge of the Coast Salish Nation in order to pass it on to the next generations.
She believes that people today will only find true healing by cultivating their sacred relationship with the natural world.

Lil Weavy Handwoven
Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, Christine Hernandez began weaving in 2015. Since entering the fiber world, Hernandez has been using weaving and hand embroidery as a way to reconnect with her ancestors, share their stories and keep the ancient arts alive. Hernandez is currently an apprentice studying traditional Chimayo tapestry weaving under 8th generation Weaver, Irvin Trujillo, at Centinela Traditional Arts.

Sophie Kissin Jewelry
Sophia Rivamonte Kissin began metalsmithing at Carleton College in Northfield, MN, where she studied Art History and Russian. She uses traditional fabrication techniques to create unique accessories using silver, brass, copper, enamel, semi-precious stones, and found objects.

Sophie creates a mix of delicate and bold pieces inspired by art, art history, and nature. A descendant of immigrants who came to the US from the Philippines, Russia, and Finland in the name of forbidden love, fleeing persecution, and in search of a better life; her ancestry informs her work in countless ways. Jewelry, art, and fashion are forms of self-expression for Sophie, and she hopes her work makes life more beautiful and meaningful for the wearer.

My work ranges from functional wheel thrown pots to jewelry and nonfunctional sculptural pieces. Clementine & Co. Jewelry
The basis of everything we make at Clementine & Co. is great design. We care about how a piece fits, moves with the body and works with your lifestyle. The materials have to stand the tests of time, sweat, water, kids, yoga practice, backpacking, in short, LIFE. This is adornment for every day.
Our pieces carry symbolism, and resonance with the knowledge that is within each of us waiting to be tapped. They are physical medicine, modern-day talismans and a connection with the earth that nurtures and supports us. We honor that connection by sourcing recycled metals, ethical stones, and employing practices which limit or eliminate our environmental impact. We honor and value the work of human hands; after all, the hand of the maker can never be replicated and it is the handmade nature of our jewelry that truly sets it apart from all others. Every piece of jewelry we sell is made in-house in our studio by a highly-skilled and well-paid maven of the metal arts.
Every piece is crafted to be a part of your life, not just an accessory to it.

Arcana Release
November 25
10am-3pm

Arcana: Personal Alchemy through Adornment
When the very talented Laura Fischer got in touch with us and asked how she could be involved with Dandelion Guild, we knew it was a great fit.  Her hammered copper and brass jewelry line, Clouds and Copper, has featured at three different Dandelion Guild events and in July of 2018, Laura joined us as a long term vendor and jewelry curator at out new storefront location on Rosina Street.
Fischer, who also works as an art therapist, is currently in the process of honing in on her jewelry vision, rebranding her jewelry under the label Arcana.
Says Fischer of the new line:
“Arcana was born of my love for magic, adornment, healing, and the places where these elements dance together. Themes of alchemy, sacred geometry, and metaphysics can be found in each piece, and stones are carefully selected for their healing potential. How we choose to adorn ourselves has the power to transform, and when we choose pieces with intention we are honoring ourselves. We are showcasing our individuality and our story- our magic.
Additionally, our purchases connect us to our planet and community. I do my best to source from within the Santa Fe community, and am working to build the most sustainable and ethical business I am able. Metals are sustainably sourced whenever possible, and much of what is used in Arcana jewelry is deadstock waste material from the fashion industry.
Arcana, Latin for magical secrets, or mysteries.”
Picture
We hope you’ll join us for the November 25th release party for Arcana from 10am-3pm.

Laura will be on hand with some of the her newest items, which include necklaces, dangle and stud earrings, as well as rings. In addition, you will have the opportunity to explore the world of flower essences with Eagle of Golden Eagle Thunder Herbs, and get an intuitive reading with the wonderful Kasandra M.

I always offer personalization and customization with each piece with the hope that the customer can take part in the creative experience. I’m passionate about creating one-of-a-kind pieces that allow my customers to feel their best while wearing them. Each piece is a reflection of my enthusiasm for my materials and I aim to produce exuberant, unique, and powerful pieces each time I sit down in the studio.

A self-taught weaver, she seeks to create embodied textiles that are relatable, emotive, and imperfect. Her pieces are woven on a loom made of nails on drywall and incorporate a variety of fibers; neon pink acrylic shag yarn from the dollar store might find a home next to her abuelita’s old church veils, connected by sequins. Isa is aesthetically and conceptually nourished by her self-directed studies of art history, visual culture, and political theory. She firmly believes in glitter. Saturday November 10, 11am-6pm

Picture
Get ahead of the holiday shopping season with gorgeous gift quality handwoven wearables and enchantingly beautiful crystals ✨

The Warp Zone
The Warp Zone is Amanda Speer and Dain Daller, artists and weavers living in Northern New Mexico. The two weave full time in their mostly finished Earthship home studio, that they built from the ground up. Amanda and Dain weave with all natural materials under their self installed solar power while living completely away from any city or grid. All woven wears are hand dyed and hand washed with rain water collected from the sky.
Striving to constantly come up with new techniques and combinations, they take formless raw materials such as silk, cotton, linen, wool, and rayon, and transform them into beautiful weavings.
Amanda and Dain's work has a strong focus on ikat techniques, both warp and weft. In 2017 the two were the USA representatives for the world craft council Ikat Symposium in New Delhi, India. They will again be representing the USA in Khon Kaen, Thailand in 2018.

RETURN of The Creature Feature!
A one week art installation
October 24 -November 1st
with Halloween Party October 27th

In the Fall of 2017, a group of local oddballs and weirdos got together to present a uniquely bizarre event in the city different: a Halloween art market known only as the "Creature Feature." Occurring over one short weekend in the Strangers Collective downtown art gallery known as NO LAND, Creature Feature was never intended as more than a passing entertainment. But little did they know, the participants had unwittingly created new life!

After laying dormant for one long year, something strange and disturbing is waking up, just in time for Halloween…
Featuring art by
Lindsay Payton (mythos and macabre!)
And
Cold Lantern Collection (horror in 3 dimensions!)

With The Bookman & The Lady (tales of fantasy and terror!)

Kiln to Kitchen:
Ceramics for Everyday Use
Pop Up Party & Opening
Friday October 19
From 6-9 pm

PictureStudio Samia
Pottery has long been a part of everyday human life. Predating the written word, ceramics developed independently on almost every continent as one of the earliest human inventions. The emergence of the craft served functional purposes for early peoples by providing a reliable way of holding and preserving food and drink.
In more recent times, appreciation for the form has led to the exhibiting of ceramics as fine art, and rightly so. And yet, there is something about the humble, useful origins of taking clay and forming it into kitchen and tableware…

On October 19th Dandelion Guild is pleased to present our fourth collaborative installation, Kiln to Kitchen: Ceramics for Everyday Use.

Kiln to Kitchen is a curated show, focusing on the diversity of style and technique employed by a six different women, all working within the medium of pottery as a functional art form. After the initial opening, the show will be on display in a smaller, curated format within the shop from October 20 - November 18.

Gloaming: Autumn Equinox Show at Dandelion Guild
Friday September 21
From 6-9 pm

Picture

Gloaming (n): Middle English (Scots) gloming, from Old English glōming, from glōm “twilight”; akin to Old English glōwan “to glow”

Gloaming, or twilight is a special moment, a special place even. Like the last glow of the sky before nighttime sets in, the fall season is a special time and place, a flash of vivid color and gratitude for the gifts of the earth. With this, our third installation (in store from September 19-October 14) at the new Dandelion Guild storefront, we seek to capture some of that glow. We hope you’ll join us for our opening party Friday, September 21 from 6-9pm.

Come celebrate the Autumn Equinox with music, hot apple cider, s'mores by The S'more Pit and a new show featuring another great group of local artists!

Cloud 9 Stitching

“My work at Cloud 9 Stitching is a joining up of the skills I have honed working in fabric, with the lifestyle and values that I live by.  This collection of naturally-dyed  contemporary linen accessories is built from the elements of nature, and focused on beauty, function, and craftsmanship.
The high desert and mountains that I am surrounded by at my home and studio in New Mexico make for quite a powerful landscape.  These surroundings have a big impact on the aesthetic of my work, and inspire the palettes of my pieces. The muted hues of the soil, grasses, stone and rocks can really only be matched with all natural dyes.“
